The Palm Beach Civic Association is committed to providing a website that is accessible to all visitors in order to ensure that all people are afforded the full and equal enjoyment of our website. As part of this commitment, we are actively working towards achieving a fully accessible website that endeavors to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 Level AA Success Criteria (WCAG 2.1 AA). Our website will be audited on a periodic basis to try to ensure that it remains fully accessible.
Our commitment to providing a website that is fully accessible to all visitors is continuous, and we encourage you to contact us at 561-655-0820 or PBCA@PalmBeachCivic.org with any questions or concerns about the accessibility or usability of any of our web pages. Should you encounter an accessibility issue, please be sure to specify the web page, web address, and the nature of your accessibility problem so that we can respond in a manner most helpful to you. We will make all reasonable efforts to make that web page or its contents accessible for you through alternative means.
Discussions/Blogs are moderated and generally will be posted if they are on-topic and not abusive. The Civic Association reserves the right to include or remove any comment for any reason and/or to block a user from participating in the Palm Beach Civic Association website.
Why do you moderate readers’ comments?
Our goal is to provide substantive commentary for a general readership. By screening submissions, we have created a space where readers can exchange intelligent and informed commentary that enhances the quality of our town, news, and information. While most comments will be posted if they are on-topic and not abusive, moderating decisions are subjective. We will make them as carefully and consistently as we can. Because of the volume of reader comments, we cannot review individual moderation decisions with readers and generally cannot alter a comment once it is posted.
What kind of comments are you looking for?
We value thoughtful comments representing a range of views that make their point quickly and politely. We make an effort to protect discussions from repeated comments – either by the same reader or different readers. We follow the same standards for taste as the daily newspaper. A few things we won’t tolerate: personal attacks, obscenity, vulgarity, profanity (including expletives and letters followed by dashes), commercial promotion, impersonations, incoherence SHOUTING, and web links.
Do you edit comments?
No. Comments are either approved or they’re not.
When and where will my comment be displayed?
Comments are posted immediately. Moderation can be less frequent in the evening and on weekends. All comments are published on the page. We reserve the right to display comments in a variety of ways, including within the text of articles we write and/or email or printed material.
Should I use my real name when making a comment?
Yes, definitely. We do not accept anonymous comments. We have found that people who use their names carry on more engaging, respectful conversations. However, we recommend against using your full e-mail address on security grounds.
What about criticism of The Palm Beach Civic Association?
We welcome strong opinions and criticism (and praise!) of our work, but we don’t want comments to become bogged down with discussions of our policies, and we will moderate accordingly.
Should I post new information about a breaking news story? What if I see an error in a discussion post or article? What is the best way to suggest a correction?
Increasingly, our readers across the globe contribute valuable information and clarifications as news is breaking. Keep it coming!
