Kenneth C. Griffin is Founder, CEO and Co-CIO of Citadel. Founded in 1990, Citadel today manages more than $39 billion for its capital partners. The firm has become one of the most successful and respected investment firms in the world, deploying capital across major asset classes and geographies.

In 2002, Mr. Griffin and his partners established Citadel Securities, a preeminent global market maker. The firm trades on behalf of institutional and retail investors in more than 35 countries around the world. Over the past two decades, Citadel Securities has transformed global financial markets, making them more open, transparent and resilient.

Mr. Griffin is committed to addressing complex problems through data-driven, outcome-oriented civic leadership that increases access and opportunity. He has advanced a range of educational, cultural and civic causes and delivered lasting impact through more than $1.1 billion in giving to date. Mr. Griffin has funded significant initiatives with the Financial Aid Office at Harvard College, the Economics Department at the University of Chicago, the Museum of Science and Industry, the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and many other notable institutions. Mr. Griffin also mobilized a multi-faceted program to support COVID-19 relief and was the lead convener and funder of Chicago Connected, a groundbreaking initiative to provide free, high-speed internet for families in need that has become a national model for bridging the digital divide.

Mr. Griffin’s expertise in economic and market matters has been sought by a variety of organizations and leaders around the world. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Public Education Fund and the Board of Trustees for the Art Institute of Chicago, the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Whitney Museum of American Art and the University of Chicago.

Mr. Griffin holds an A.B. in economics from Harvard College.
