Town of Palm Beach 2018 Hurricane Preparedness Seminar

he Town of Palm Beach encourages residents, business owners, and contractors conducting business on the island to be prepared for the upcoming hurricane season.

Palm Beach officials will offer tips on how to prepare for the upcoming storm season during their 2018 Hurricane Seminar. The event will take place on May 4 in the Town of Palm Beach Council Chambers, located at 360 South County Road in Palm Beach from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Council members, Maggie Zeidman and Julie Araskog, representing Mayor Gail Coniglio and the Town Council, will be officiating the seminar.  Meteorologist Glenn Glazer of WPTV Channel 5 will headline the seminar with information about the 2018 Hurricane season forecast, the National Hurricane Center’s newest technology, and WPTV’s technology for severe weather forecasting and information.

Town Emergency Management officials will be sharing lessons learned during the 2017 hurricane season and unveil plans for the upcoming season. Attendees will receive information from Palm Beach’s emergency response and recovery experts including:
Palm Beach Police will provide information about voluntary ID cards, evacuation procedures; town-wide security measures before, during and after a storm; welfare checks, and new post-storm re-entry procedures.

Palm Beach Fire Rescue will educate the public on emergency response, electrical hazards, gas leaks, and generator safety practices.
Palm Beach Public Works officials will discuss post storm recovery efforts including street clearing, debris removal, power restoration, and other recovery efforts that are required to get the town open for business after a hurricane.

We encourage all residents, business owners, and contractors working on the island to attend.
