The Port of Palm Beach is accepting resumes and letters of interest from persons interested in being appointed to a seat on its board of commissioners.
The commission’s Group 3 seat has been vacant since Commissioner Jean Enright’s October 24 resignation after 20 years of membership on the board.
Enright’s replacement will be appointed by the port board of commissioners to serve the remainder of her four-year term, which ends January 1, 2029, according to a June 19 email notice from the port.
Qualified applicants must be a U.S. citizen, a registered voter of Palm Beach County, and a legal resident residing within the established geographic limits of the Port of Palm Beach District.
An independent special district, the port is governed by the five-member board of commissioners who are elected at-large by voters who live in the district.
The port itself spans 165 acres and is located in Riviera Beach, just north of Palm Beach. The port district covers 971 square miles, which is about half of Palm Beach County, and extends from the Atlantic Ocean to the county’s western border. It encompasses all or parts of 16 municipalities, including Palm Beach.
The letters of interest must be no more than two pages, the port said in the notice. Applicants are required to submit a copy of their driver’s license, either electronically or in-person. The deadline to apply for the seat is 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1.

The port is one of the larger employers in Palm Beach County with more than 3,500 workers, according to Yaremi Farinas, the port’s director of communications. It draws an estimated $185 million in business revenue, and more than $12 billion worth of commodities move through it.
