Midtown Beach Repair Almost Completed

Beaches & Intracoastal  |  May 17, 2018

The Midtown beach repair is almost completed with a new groin installed and fresh sand to renourish the beach in front of the seawall.

It appears that the only part of the project remaining is to install a new stairway down to the beach and remove the lane dividers on Ocean Blvd.

You may recall the extreme beach erosion that happened during last season from several storms:

Last Fall waves were breaking over the seawall at hi-tide and at low-tide, there wasn’t much beach remaining.  The stairway was still in place but beach patrons were blocked from using it because it was unsafe.
