Dr. Elizabeth (Betsy) Nabel is an Advisor to OPKO Health, providing strategic counsel to ModeX Therapeutics, and is Professor of Medicine Emerita at Harvard Medical School. An internationally recognized physician-scientist and healthcare leader, she previously served as President of Brigham Health and its Brigham and Women’s Hospital and was Director of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute at the National Institutes of Health. She also served as the National Football League’s first Chief Health and Medical Advisor, helping guide the league’s medical and scientific initiatives. A member of the National Academy of Medicine, Dr. Nabel has earned numerous honors for her contributions to cardiovascular research and medicine and currently serves on the boards of several leading healthcare and biotechnology organizations, including Moderna.
Dr. Gary Nabel is Co-Founder, President and CEO of ModeX Therapeutics and Chief Innovation Officer and a Board Director at OPKO Health. An internationally recognized physician-scientist, he previously served as the founding Director of the Vaccine Research Center at the National Institutes of Health, where he helped advance groundbreaking vaccine research and development. He later served as Chief Scientific Officer at Sanofi, overseeing the company’s global research portfolio and leading innovative programs in vaccines and antibody therapeutics. A member of the National Academy of Medicine, Dr. Nabel has received numerous honors for his contributions to biomedical research and continues to serve on the boards and scientific advisory committees of leading biotechnology and global health organizations.
Moderator: Charles Kenney is Senior Vice President at Northwell Health, an author, and former journalist. He spent 15 years as a reporter and editor at The Boston Globe and also worked for Boston’s CBS television affiliate before focusing on healthcare quality and innovation. Kenney is the author of several acclaimed books on healthcare transformation, including The Best Practice: How the New Quality Movement Is Transforming Medicine, which The New York Times described as the first large-scale history of the quality movement. He has also served on the faculty of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and is widely recognized for his expertise in healthcare leadership, patient experience, and medical innovation.
