U.S. Senator Jack Reed, a Rhode Island Democrat, will be first of three keynote speakers headlining the 2024 Signature Speaker Series.
Reed will appear on Jan. 19 from 8:45 a.m. until 9:50 a.m. at The Beach Club Ocean Lounge and Ocean Room.
Reed is chairman of the powerful Senate Armed Services Committee and chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee of the Legislative Branch. He was elected to the Senate in 1996 after serving as U.S. representative for Rhode Island’s 2nd congressional district 1991-97.
Reed is an attorney and a graduate of both the United States Military Academy and Harvard University. He served in the U.S. Army as an active officer from 1971 to 1979.
All three 2024 Signature Speaker Series engagements are being sponsored by the Stanley M. Rumbough, Jr. Legal Society through a gift from the late Cynthia Van Buren. The Rumbough Society is named for the late businessman, philanthropist and former co-chairman and CEO of the Civic Association.
