Michael Froman is President of the Council on Foreign Relations and a leading expert on international trade, global economics and foreign policy. He previously served as U.S. Trade Representative in President Barack Obama’s Cabinet, where he led major international trade negotiations and helped shape U.S. economic policy. Before that, he served as Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economic Affairs, coordinating policy on trade, finance, energy, climate and global development.

Prior to his government service, Froman held senior leadership positions at Citigroup and later served as Vice Chairman and President of Strategic Growth at Mastercard. He holds degrees from Princeton University, Oxford University and Harvard Law School and has been recognized by Fortune as one of the world’s “50 Greatest Leaders” and by Politico as one of the “50 thinkers, doers and visionaries shaping American politics.”
