Michael Reiter has served on the Civic Association’s Executive Committee since 2024. He also serves on its Water Committee and chairs the Raymond J. Kunkel Award Committee.

Mr. Reiter is president of Michael Reiter and Associates, a security and investigative firm based in Palm Beach. His work includes security strategy, crisis and threat management, investigations, and advising crime victims.

Before entering private practice, Mr. Reiter spent more than three decades in law enforcement, culminating in eight years as chief of police for the Town of Palm Beach. During his tenure as chief, the department introduced Volunteers in Police Service, the Citizens Police Academy, and the Teen Police Academy, programs intended to strengthen ties between residents and their police department.

Mr. Reiter led numerous major investigations, including the inquiry that exposed a vast international operation involving sexual abuse and human trafficking. 

His broader public service has included roles on the executive board of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and on the Leadership Council of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum. The Palm Beach Police & Fire Foundation was established with his support while he was chief, and he later served on its board for five years. He also served on the Town of Palm Beach Strategic Planning Board.

Mr. Reiter earned a Master of Science degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida Atlantic University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and Harvard Kennedy School’s Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government.

His honors include the Civic Association’s Raymond J. Kunkel Award, the Town of Palm Beach Employee of the Year Award, the Worth Avenue Association Above and Beyond Award, and distinguished alumni awards from both Palm Beach Atlantic University and Florida Atlantic University.

Mr. Reiter and his wife, Janet, live in Palm Beach and remain active in civic and community initiatives.
