Judy Goodman

Ms. Goodman, a retired health law attorney, serves on the Governing Board of Good Samaritan Medical Center. She founded and served as first executive director for the local Cultural Council in 1978; later as its chairman in 1982. She had formerly been on-air editorial director for WPEC-TV and a vice president of Photo Electronics Corporation, which owned the broadcast company from 1975-1997.

She was awarded the Legacy Muse Award for an individual in 2018 on the Cultural Council’s 40th anniversary for her work in passing the Tourist Development tax referendum for the arts that has returned more than $100 million to local arts groups since its passage in 1982.

She is a life trustee of the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts; a Distinguished Life Trustee and former chairman of the South Florida Fair, which inducted her into the South Florida Hall of Fame.

Ms. Goodman, grew up in Villanova, Pennsylvania, and is a graduate of Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri; she earned both her J.D. and M.B.A. at Nova Southeastern University.

Ms. Goodman taught health law at Florida Atlantic University for more than a decade. She is a Palm Beach resident for more than 50 years; she and her late husband, J. John Goodman, M.D., have 4 grown children; and 4 grandchildren; they were honored by the local Medical Society for helping found the “1919 Society” endowment as well as their philanthropy to Scripps Florida; Boston Latin School; and the University of Vermont Medical School.
