Alicia Cannon Mullen

Alicia Cannon Mullen is a principal at Washing Pond Ventures, concentrating on growing technology-enabled companies through internal incubation and external investment.   As a long-time digital product leader, Alicia is developing Aprium, an intelligent productivity platform enabling multiple privately held businesses. Alicia is a founding board member of The Nantucket Project, an annual invitation-only thought leadership conference since 2011. She is a board member at Represent.US, a non-partisan organization that promotes democracy reform, and a board advisor to Brave New Software, which created the government-funded Lantern platform that provides internet access to the censored world. Past advisory roles include Beme, a social media platform that CNN acquired, and founder of the award-winning Clustered Apps.  

Her past positions include Senior Vice President/CIO of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and CIO/CTO of First Options of Chicago (acquired by SLK/Goldman Sachs.) During her earlier career, Alicia was selected as one of the Top Women in Computing by McGraw-Hill, the publisher of BusinessWeek, for her role in pioneering wireless handheld technology on professional trading floors.    

Alicia obtained her B.A. in Computer Science from Boston University while playing on the Varsity Tennis Team – she currently sits on the university’s Board of Trustees. Alicia is also active in supporting the promotion of public art and was a past president and board member of Chicago’s Redmoon and is launching a new public art initiative in 2024.  She serves as a Palm Beach Civic Association Executive Committee member and court-appointed Guardian Ad Litem for Palm Beach County. She co-leads the Mullen Family Foundation, which supports a broad array of educational and civic initiatives. 

Alicia, a Chicago native, moved to Palm Beach with her husband, Tim, in 2015. She has a daughter at the University of Michigan and four grown children.
