The Morton and Barbara Mandel Recreation Center opened its doors to Palm Beachers on Friday.  The long road that led to Friday’s festivities made the grand opening all the more sweet, and few had more to celebrate than Civic Association Treasurer, Michael Ainslie and Director, Matt Smith. The two were instrumental in establishing The Friends of Recreation and achieving the fundraising goal from private citizens to match the contributions from the Morton and Barbara Mandel Foundation and the Town of Palm Beach in a unique three way public private partnership. The stunning 17,000 square foot facility includes a fieldhouse, after-school room, fitness center, multi-purpose rooms, snack bar, game room/lobby and administrative offices.
