Civic Association Spotlight: Plastic Ban Update with Bobbie Lindsay

Beaches & Intracoastal  |  Our Town  |  August 22, 2019

It was a widely praised eco-friendly move. The Town Council of Palm Beach voted to ban single-use plastic bags and styrofoam cups and then the Court of Appeals killed it. That did not sit well with a council which had taken the lead among coastal communities.

The ruling by the court reverses the ban, not just for the city of Coral Gables, but for Palm Beach as well. What it means is that every city in the state that has followed and banned it as well has to rescind their ban.

Town Councilwoman Bobbie Lindsay is incensed and is ready to take the fight to the state legislature.
