Chuck Todd Peacock Brand Shoots - Season 2019

News Brief: NBC News Political Analyst Chuck Todd to headline Annual Award Breakfast

Chuck Todd, a five-time Emmy Award-winning journalist, will be the guest speaker at the Palm Beach Civic Association’s Community Service Award breakfast on
March 18, 2024, at The Breakers. Todd serves as NBC News’ chief political analyst.

For nearly a decade, he was NBC News’ political director and the moderator of the longest-running show on television, the network’s flagship Sunday public affairs program Meet the Press. During that time, Todd served as a primary anchor for the network’s primetime political and election programming and spearheaded NBC News’ political coverage across all the network’s platforms and news programs.

Bob Wright, PBCA Chairman Emeritus, was instrumental in getting Todd to speak at the fundraiser. “I have known Chuck Todd for many years, when he worked for me at NBC, and have nothing but the highest respect for his talent as a top-notch TV journalist. He will be an exceptional speaker for our annual luncheon.”

Todd is a native of Miami and lives in Arlington, Va. with his wife, Kristian, and two children.

The breakfast will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on March 18 at the Breakers. Individual tickets start at $200.

Bob Wright to receive Brooks Award
Chuck Todd will be reunited with his former boss, Bob Wright at the breakfast. Wright, who served as Chairman and CEO of the Civic Association from 2010 to April 2023, will be honored with the Civic Association’s annual William J. “Bill” Brooks Community Service Award.

The Brooks award is given each year to honor a person who has significantly improved the quality of life in the community. It is named for the late Palm Beach Town Council member and longtime general manager of WPTV Channel 5, Bill Brooks.

The award has been given out each year since 2011, when Stanley Rumbough and Louis Schott won it jointly. Past winners include Daniel Ponton, Gail Coniglio, J. Ira and Nicki Harris, Robert Nederlander, Palm Beach Police and Fire-Rescue, Jeffery Smith, Beth Walton, David Mack, Peter Elwell, James Patterson, Kirk Blouin, Alex Dreyfoos, Stanley Rumbough and Louis Schott.

Mary Robosson, Civic Association president, said there is no one more deserving than Chairman Emeritus Bob Wright in receiving the 2024 Award.

“It was Bob’s leadership role in bringing us light years ahead as an organization and in securing our keynote speakers for over 13 years for the Civic Association’s Community Service Award Programs. Speakers such as Tom Brokaw, Andrea Mitchell, Tommy Hilfiger, Willie Geist, and so many others, all came our way, when Bob placed the call. Willie Geist said it best, when Bob Wright places the call, the only answer is yes; when and where do you need me!”

Wright is the former vice chairman of General Electric and CEO of NBC and NBC Universal. In 2005, Wright and his late wife, Suzanne Wright, founded Autism Speaks. In 2016, after her death from pancreatic cancer, Wright established the Suzanne Wright Foundation, which funds research for pancreatic cancer.

Bob is married to Susan Keenan Wright, PBCA director and co-chair of the Civic Association’s Communications Committee. Together they raise awareness about pancreatic cancer, advocating for individuals with autism, and supporting education for underserved children in the community. They reside in Palm Beach.

The Annual Award Breakfast is sponsored by Florida Crystals.

A VIP dinner in honor of Chuck Todd and Bob Wright will be held at a private residence on March 17, 2024, starting at 6:30 p.m.
