The Southern Boulevard Bridge will be closed from 12 a.m. until 4 a.m. on Thursday, May 25, for work on the bridge’s mechanical components, the Florida Department of Transportation said Tuesday.
Traffic will be detoured to the Royal Park Bridge via US 1/South Dixie Highway and State Road A1A.
It will be the second time this week that the bridge will be closed for work on its mechanical components. It was closed for four hours early Tuesday morning for the same purpose.
After more than five years of construction, the new Southern Boulevard Bridge opened to drivers and pedestrians in September. The $97 million bridge, which replaced an earlier version built in 1950, is one of three spans that connect Palm Beach with West Palm Beach.
