BREAKING NEWS: Coniglio to Retire, Danielle Moore to Run For Mayor

Mayor Gail Coniglio has decided not to run for re-election after serving four terms as Mayor. Coniglio was first elected Mayor in 2011 after serving two terms as a Town Council Member.  She was last elected Mayor in 2017.

Her departure opens the way for Danielle Hickox Moore, former Palm Beach Town Council President who has served three terms on the Council, to run for Mayor in the March 2021 election.

“One of the Mayor’s responsibilities is to work with the Council to chart our direction and help navigate rough waters when we encounter them,” said Moore.

Moore had high praise for current Mayor Gail Coniglio, who has announced that she will not run for re-election.

“Mayor Coniglio has dedicated what seems like many more than 24 hours a day of her time and energy to our Town,” Moore said.  “She has built solid relationships with our neighboring communities and the government agencies that we count on.  At the same time, she has always been willing to listen to residents’ concerns and act on their behalf.”

Formal nominations of Town Council and Mayoral candidates will be made virtually on January 12 from 7 to 8 p.m. via Zoom webinar because COVID19 restrictions prohibit in-person attendance at the New England style caucus traditionally held at Town Hall.  The election will be held Tuesday, March 9.
