Mr. Reiter has served as a Civic Association Director since 2013 and member of the Executive Committee since 2024. He is the President of Michael Reiter and Associates, a Palm Beach based security and investigative firm providing strategic protection and advisory services to individuals and global organizations.
With over three decades in law enforcement, he concluded his government service as the eighth Chief of Police for the Town of Palm Beach, where he launched innovative programs such as Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS), the Citizens Police Academy and Teen Police Academy. He also directed a high profile investigation that led to the conviction of one of the nation’s most prolific child sex traffickers.
Nationally recognized for his expertise in security strategy, crisis management, victim advocacy and the prevention and investigation of crime, Mr. Reiter has served in prominent federal and national roles, including on the Executive Board of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Leadership Council of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum.
Mr. Reiter holds a Master of Science degree from Palm Beach Atlantic University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida Atlantic University. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Harvard Kennedy School Program for Senior Executives in State and Local Government.
His honors include the Palm Beach Civic Association’s Raymond J. Kunkel Award, the Town of Palm Beach Employee of the Year Award, the Worth Avenue Association Above and Beyond Award, and Distinguished Alumni Awards from both Palm Beach Atlantic University and Florida Atlantic University, where he was also invited to deliver the commencement address. The Palm Beach Police Foundation was established with his cooperation during his tenure as Chief of Police and he has served on the Town of Palm Beach Strategic Planning Board.
Mr. Reiter and his wife, Janet, are residents of Palm Beach, and remain active in civic and community affairs.
