Gwen Fisher grew up in Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan with her Bachelors degree in nursing. Gwen worked as a registered nurse at the University of Michigan hospital for many years until marrying her late husband, Lester Fisher. She later moved to New York with her husband who was a general partner at the real estate and development firm, Fisher Brothers, and founder of Fisher Development Associates.

Gwen commuted between her homes in New York and Palm Beach with her husband since the late 1970s. With Lester, they contributed to many charities and were founding supporters of the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum. They were also benefactors to both the Fallen Heroes Fund and the Fisher House Foundation which were all started by the Fisher family. Gwen has also been a major supporter of Autism Speaks, The Humane Society of the United States, the NYU Langone Hospital System, the IDF and was honored, alongside her husband, by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Gwen and Lester also created a scholarship program at the University of Miami to help Civil Engineering graduates who could not find work receive continued education for free.

Gwen has maintained a long career in the golf world with tournament play and has served as president of the prestigious Women’s Tri-County Golf Association in New York. Gwen has won over 50 club championships between New York and Palm Beach and continues to play recreationally. She has two sons with Lester who followed in their father’s footsteps and work in real estate development. Gwen’s full time residency in Palm Beach has inspired her to become more involved in Palm Beach causes and the Civic Association.
