Mr. Belton is executive chairman of HUB International Canada, a top 5 global insurance brokerage with offices throughout Canada and the US. At age 29, he purchased Muntz & Beatty Inc., which grew to become Canada’s largest privately owned insurance brokerage, HKMB. In 2008, HKMB was acquired by HUB International, in which Mr. Belton retains a significant shareholding.
Mr. Belton is the past chairman of the international trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award based in London; A director of St. Michael’s Hospital Foundation, chairman of the Donner Canadian Foundation, board member Oxbridge Academy, West Palm Beach, board member Windmill Microlending, Toronto, board member Samara Centre for Democracy, Toronto, past co-chair of the Curators Circle of the Art Gallery of Ontario, first non-American Chairman of Assurex Global , past Chair YPO Upper Canada. He has received numerous national and international awards: the Order of Canada (2016); Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (CVO) (2009); the Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal (2003); the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012); Knight Grand Cross, the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem (KGCHS) (2006); and YPO Legacy Award (2003). In 2019, Mr. Belton was awarded an honorary doctorate from York University in Toronto. He and his wife, Susie, have three children and reside in Toronto and Palm Beach.
