After graduating with a degree in Economics, cum laude, from Newton College of the Sacred Heart (part of Boston College) and receiving an MBA in Finance and Investments from New York University Stern School of Business, Cathy began her business career in the corporate finance department of a New York Stock Exchange member firm. After several years on Wall Street, together with her husband, Bill, she cofounded Sutton Capital Associates, Inc., a cable television investment and management company which, through its affiliated partnerships, owned and operated cable television and cellular telephone systems throughout the United States. After the sale of the company’s systems, Cathy cofounded Waller-Sutton Media Partners and WallerSutton 2000, private equity funds focused on the media and communications industries.
During her business career, Cathy served on the boards of several public and private companies in the media and communications industry. Currently, she is a member of the Board of Trustees of Boston College and previously served on its Finance and Audit Committee. She is a founding member of The Council for Women of Boston College and previously served on its Executive Committee.
Cathy is an Advisory Board Member of, and previously served as the Treasurer and a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Women’s Committee of The Central Park Conservancy. Other previous board memberships include the Mantoloking Yacht Club, the New York City Police Athletic League and the New York Advisory Board of The Trust for Public Land, where she chaired its NYC Playgrounds Program Committee.
After retiring from business, Cathy and Bill moved to Palm Beach in 2016, where she has concentrated on sharpening her tennis game, gardening in Florida and exploring new volunteer endeavors. She is a member of the Allocation Committee of the Town of Palm Beach United Way.
