Mr. Manning is chairman emeritus of J. Walter Thompson Co. Worldwide, the world’s first advertising agency. He is the only JWT chief executive to come from the creative ranks. Under his leadership, JWT more than doubled in size, serving more than 1,000 clients; was voted Best All-round Agency for three consecutive years in a nationwide survey; and broke revenue records for five consecutive years. As chairman of American Association of Advertising Agencies, his call to eliminate misleading political advertising was cited more than 400 times in national media. He is the first person elected to both the Advertising Hall of Fame and the National Sales & Marketing Hall of Fame, and was named Creative Executive of the Year and Advertising Executive of the Year. He has served as a director of corporate boards and as a trustee of pro bono organizations including New York Landmarks Conservancy, Park Avenue Armory Conservancy, Paley Center for Media, National Actors Theater, New School for Social Research, and Neurosciences Research Foundation.
