CIVIC ASSOCIATION SYMPOSIUM ON FLAGLER (NORTH) BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION HOSTS PACKED CROWD
|Proposed Bridge Design|
August 2011 is the proposed construction start for the new bridge. The north bridge that links West Palm Beach to the Town of Palm Beach is expected to take three to four years. "The goal is to impact [the public] as little as possible," said Mark Siegenthaler, Senior Project Engineer and a presenter at the Civic Association symposium. "We intend to keep four lanes of traffic open at all times."
They will achieve that by keeping the old bridge open while the new one is constructed just to the south. They will control noise by using a shaft drill to install the 140 new pilings instead of a pile driver. Completion is set for the summer of 2014.
