The toxic green algae has been thick as wet carpet in Martin County to the north and has appeared in the Lake Worth Lagoon in Palm Beach.

The Army Corps of Engineers is discharging large amounts of fertilizer, nitrate, and contaminant rich high water out of Lake Okeechobee into area rivers and canals which feeds the C51 Canal that empties into the Intracoastal across from the south end of Palm Beach. In Palm Beach, wind is driving the algae north in the Intracoastal. More in the [WPTV-NBC5] video below:
