With property values expected to slide again this year, town officials must decide between a tax increase or budget cuts that would diminish town services, Mayor-elect Gail Coniglio said Monday.

Mrs. Coniglio said at a Palm Beach Civic Association symposium that she's reaching out to the community to learn what residents want.

"Will painful cuts be justified, with the resulting degradation of service that makes this community unique?" she asked an audience of about 100 people at the Paramount Building.

PACKED HOUSE FOR CIVIC ASSOCIATION OIL SPILL SYMPOSIUM

The Civic Association Oil Symposium had a packed conference room as concerned residents, town officials, and State Representatives gathered to discuss the plan to protect the 12 miles of beaches and Intracoastal in Palm Beach.

Town Councilwoman Gail Coniglio presented the overall potential impact and plan for the town and county.  Emergency Operations Coordinator Mike Galvin showed the plan details.
