header beaches

By: R. Michael Brown, Civic Association Communications Director -- Red and purple flags are flying on beaches in the Town of Palm Beach.

The reasons are because of hazardous surf, rip currents, and stinging man-o-war (purple flag) in the water.

Washing machine conditions for surfers.  Swimmers are advised to stay out of the water unless you're an expert ocean swimmer and in great shape.

Northeast winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 3 to 5 feet with occasional seas to 6 feet. Period 4 seconds. Intracoastal waters choppy in exposed areas. Numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms in the morning...then scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms.

Expect these conditions through Friday night with winds dropping to 10-15 knots over the weekend.

This will cause the usual Winter-time beach erosion.
