Town of Palm Beach 100th Annual Caucus

2012 Caucus

 

 

 

 

While most everyone in the nation was focused on the Iowa Caucuses, the 100th Annual Caucus for the Town of Palm Beach was going on at the same time. No new candidates came forward or were nominated. The three incumbents were nominated and will be elected unopposed.  The Civic Association Candidates Debate is cancelled and the Town is cancelling the election.

NBC’s “Meet the Press” Moderator David Gregory Keynotes Civic Association Awards Luncheon

A capacity crowd of 200 guests attended the First Annual Civic Association Awards Luncheon on Monday at the Colony Hotel to hear “Meet the Press” moderator David Gregory. Stanley M. Rumbough Jr. and Lewis Schott received the William J. "Bill" Brooks Community Service Award and Nancy Brinker was presented with the General Alexander M. Haig Global Impact Award.

POLICE CHIEF BLOUIN: "CRIME RATE AT ALL TIME LOW IN PALM BEACH"

The Civic Association hosted a Crime in Palm Beach Symposium with Palm Beach Police Chief Kirk Blouin on January 20. The Chief reported that, when he first joined the department 20 plus years ago, there were nearly 650 serious crimes (homicide, burglary, assault, etc) per year. In 2010, under his watch, there were just 150 major crimes committed, the lowest total in recorded history.

CIVIC ASSOCIATION SHORE PROTECTION FORUM: "THERE ARE NO SIMPLE ANSWERS"

The Civic Association Community Forum on Shore Protection today answered many questions that residents have about beach erosion. But as Llwyd Ecclestone, Town Shore Protection Board Chairman said, "Unfortunately, because of regulatory agencies like the US Army Corp of Engineers and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and many others, there are no simple answers."

DAY ACADEMY STUDENTS CALL RESIDENTS FROM THE CIVIC ASSOCIATION TO GET-OUT-THE-VOTE

Ninth grade students from the Palm Beach Day Academy made calls to Town of Palm Beach residents during the Civic Association Get-Out-The-Vote call campaign.  The Civic Association conducts the campaign for every election and this is the second year the Academy has participated.  Students also participated in the Civic Association Candidates Debate earlier in the week.

CIVIC ASSOCIATION CANDIDATES DEBATE ATTRACTS ALMOST 300

The Civic Association Candidates Debate was well attended with almost 300 gathered to listen to Town of Palm Beach Town Council candidates present their opinions on the issues including taxes, shore protection, Royal Poinciana Plaza and Playhouse, water resources, and much more.
