Early diagnoses, intervention keys when autism suspected

The Civic Association and Paramount Theater Building "Lighting It Up Blue"
A new federal study says one-in-88 children has at least some symptoms of autism, many more than previously thought. Civic Association Chairman & CEO Bob Wright and his wife Suzanne, who founded Autism Speaks in 2005 after their grandson was diagnosed with the disorder, talked to Rebecca Jarvis about the challenges faced by families with kids with autism. Bob Wright is the former chairman of NBC Universal.

Long gone are the days when people used to quip that the airport was the best place to go for medical treatment in the Town of Palm Beach. Today, the community offers quality healthcare services that will soon include greater help for victims of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).
The Town of Palm Beach Fire-Rescue Department, along with the help of the Palm Beach Civic Association and the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association, are developing a plan to encourage local businesses, organizations, and residents to buy Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), to be available on site to respond to cardiac emergencies in their places of business and homes. Although paramedics usually arrive in less than five minutes, earlier use of an AED will save lives.
